"Of the three types of commandments, the decree is the most obtuse. Upon first inspection, it can be difficult to ascertain the purpose of a decree, but this is only true when considered without the context of the whole.
Through a holistic interpretation of the texts, many decrees take on additional significance as the safeguards of laws. In most cases, the law establishes the morality of the issue, but lacks practical application to our lives; its rightness is only possible through separation and distillation."
